dk Event Marketing spent the week of April 22-28 in the nation’s capital on the Expotique production team for the first-ever Nike Women Half Marathon in Washington, DC.

Throughout the week, dkEM was part of the build, execution and tear down of the Expotique at the Georgetown Waterfront. What was an active fountain and outdoor seating area for several restaurants just a week before was transformed into a beautiful Expotique featuring a 40’ video wall with live Twitter and Instagram feed, gait analysis, a bra bar, live training sessions, Olympic athletes and several walls of Nike footwear. Sponsors sampled product and treated the attendees to “makeunders” and 15 minute hairstyling.

15,000 women (and a few good men) participated in the first east coast running of the Nike Women Marathon on April 28, 2013. The marathon has been held in San Francisco for the past nine years and will again take place there on October 20, 2013. The Expotique was open to athletes participating in the event, their families, friends and the public from Thursday, April 25 thru Saturday, April 27.
